Educational Outreach
The Cohen Institute works closely with teachers across the state and beyond to empower them to incorporate Holocaust and genocide studies into their classrooms. Through professional learning communities, workshops, individualized mentorship, and more, we aim to increase teachers’ capacities and confidence for doing this important work.
Workshops
The Cohen Institute offers between three and five professional development workshops related to Holocaust and Genocide Studies education each year. These offerings are free and those who complete each workshop receive a certificate of completion.
Blavatnik Archive Teacher Fellowship
The Cohen Institute for Holocaust and Genocide Studies is participating in the Blavatnik Archive Teacher Fellowship (BATF) during the 2026-2027 academic year. This curriculum-writing program for educators, offered in collaboration with the , focuses on the theme “Reading Visual Propaganda” and centers on a seven-part webinar series exploring 20th-century visual propaganda from the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, examining how images shaped public attitudes and experiences, and supporting participants in developing classroom-ready curriculum based on these materials. Scholarships for Teachers
Thanks to the generosity of a donor, the Cohen Institute is able to provide funding to support educators doing professional work related to Holocaust and Genocide Studies. This funding can support classroom projects with students, field trips or other activities, and/or participation in Cohen Institute educational outreach programs such as study tours, the biannual Summer Institute for educators, and more. Teachers are expected to use the funds in ways that will positively impact their work in the classroom.
Support for Teachers
Teachers are also encouraged to reach out to the Cohen Institute’s Coordinator of Educational Outreach for individualized support. While most of our work supports middle and high school educators across New Hampshire, we welcome inquiries from anyone who would benefit from assistance in this area.

Teaching Materials
